Talks on foreign investment in South Pars underway Talks on foreign investment in South Pars underway

Talks on assigning a foreign contractor for the last development phase of the giant South Pars Gas Field are underway and the detailed plan will be announced in the upcoming Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) conference scheduled to be held in Tehran on November 28-29, according to Oil Ministry officials.

Managing Director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) Gholamreza Manouchehri told Shana that foreign financers are interested in Iran's oil and gas projects once the sanctions are removed.

Referring to the development of Phase 11 of South Pars and Iran-Oman gas pipeline project to be carried out by the IOEC, he said both domestic and foreign firms are keen on cooperating with competent authorized partners.

The gasline project includes laying the 400-kilometer land-sea pipeline from Iran to Oman. According to preliminary figures, the land section of the gas pipeline is to extend for 200 kilometers from Rudan to Mobarak Mount in southern Hormuzgan Province. The seabed section between Iran and Sohar Port in Oman will stretch for another 200 kilometers.

In the meantime, an official in the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said talks on financing the offshore section of Phase 11 of South Pars have not been concluded.

"No decision has yet been made," said Abdolmajid Delparish, the company's director of consolidated planning.
